In Memoriam

Don Wallace

The board and staff of the Historical Society of Haddonfield  are deeply saddened by the death of Don Wallace on December 24, 2021. For better than 20 years, Don Wallace was known as the “Tool Man”, who started our tool museum in the basement of Greenfield Hall, presently known as the “Don Wallace Tool Gallery”.  In addition to donating over 3,000 items from his own tool collection, Don encouraged others to donate as well and our tool collection today wonderfully depicts the tools used by Haddonfield residents over the decades.  He spent countless hours, organizing and giving tours to local school children and adult groups.  Don wrote several articles for the Collectors of Rare and Familiar Tools Society of NJ and had a monthly column in our very own Bulletin We are deeply  honored that he considered HSH to be one of his favorite places and he was certainly one of our favorite people!

Picking up where Don left off, Mike Underwood is the curator of the “Don Wallace Tool Gallery”, spending countless hours organizing and providing tours.  Tasks that would not be there to do with out Don’s research and interest in antique tools.
