Fees:
The library is open to both members and the public at no cost, although a donation for use of the collections is requested.
The Library is located in the historic Samuel Mickle House, adjacent to Greenfield Hall, at 343 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield, NJ. The Mickle House is an early 18th century
saddler’s shop which was moved to the grounds of Greenfield Hall in the early 1960′s. Several years ago it was pressed into service to house the extensive and growing collections of the Historical Society Library.
The Historical Society of Haddonfield Library collection is focused on the history, genealogies, family papers, church records, images and organizational records of Haddonfield and its immediate vicinity. It includes older reference books on the history of the area and of early Quakers in South Jersey, pamphlets on Haddonfield events and organizations, church records of Haddonfield up to 1900, early Bible and marriage records and genealogies relating to local families. There are vertical files on both houses located in Haddonfield and on residents as well as a collection of Borough Directories from 1884 – 1961. The Society has several large collections of family papers as well as a large number of original recorded and unrecorded deeds.
There is an extensive collection of photographs and postcards of Haddonfield and of local individuals as well as the photographs from the old Haddon Town Crier Herald Newspaper. A collection of maps of Haddonfield and cemetery surveys for the Haddonfield Methodist Cemetery, Haddonfield Baptist Cemetery and Colestown Cemetery in Cherry Hill are also part of the collection. The Ledger Collection contains many business ledgers from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
